ABOUT

Atelier H designs and manufactures lighting and furniture inspired by the strength, rarity and natural beauty of minerals. Atelier H’s collections of chandeliers, lamps, wall lightsand bespoke furniture pieces are entirely handcrafted, an ode to detail and savoir faire, where precision is elevated into art.

The studio is founded by self taught designer and craftsman Pierre Harel, who’s creative universe is rooted in the art of composition – pairing an exceptional palette of natural stones such as marble, granite and slate with precious minerals including rock crystal, agate and pyrite. The result is a play of contrasts: matte and polished, opaque and translucent, mass and radiance.

Creations sit between illumination and mineral art where light is not simply added to the material – it is revealed by it, drawn out through transparency, depthand the subtle drama of natural inclusions.

For architects and interior designers seeking made-to-measure pieces, Atelier H offers fully bespoke creations. Whether envisioning a monumental chandelier for a grand hotel lobby, a constellation of wall lights for a residential interior scheme or an installation of sculptural mineral lighting for a prestigious space, the studio collaborates closely with each client to bring ambitious ideas to life.

From his workshop in Choisy le Roi, just outside Paris, Pierre Harel and his team continue to push the boundaries of mineral based design. Atelier H stands at the crossroads of expert craftsmanship, innovation and contemporary luxury, seamlessly integrating stone, lighting and creative vision.

Atelier H has recently developed an innovative manufacturing process for designing hollow natural marble light fixtures (a material known as ‘marble sheet’). At under 7 mm thick, light can pass through the marble, making unprecedented designs possible. What’s more, there is with almost no limit on shape or size, as illustrated by Atelier H’s first large jellyfish-shaped chandelier (100 cm x 70 cm) presented at Maison & Objet fair in January 2024.
